A Chinese patient in inner Mongolia region died from the plague, the second death from the plague in this week. The patient died from multiple organ failure and was diagnosed as infected with glandular plague, the Bayannaoer city health commission said.
The nearby area where the patient lived has been sealed off, and seven closed contacts have been placed into quarantine and all tested negativein PCR nucleic test, the commission said.
On Thursday, chinese medical authorities confirmed a new form of the disease as the reason of death of another person four days earlier, the Baotou city health commission said.
Though China has largely eradicated the plague, still some cases are reported. The last major outbreak was in 2009, when several people died in the town of Ziketanin Qinghai province on the Tibetan plateau.
