China reports 16 new COVID19 cases

China has reported 16 new COVID19 cases, including 15 asymptomatic ones, in the COVID19 epicentre Wuhan, where all the 11.2 million population is being tested for the COVID19, health authorities informed on Wednesday.

China's National Health Commission said five confirmed COVID19 cases and 16 asymptomatic cases were reported on Tuesday. Four locally transmitted COVID19 positive cases were reported in the Jilin Province.

Jilin City is under lockdown after clusters of COVID19 cases were reported last week.

By Tuesday, Jilin province had reported a total of 133 positive COVID19 locally transmitted cases, including two deaths and 106 who had been discharged from hospital after recovery.

There are still 25 COVID19 positive patients receiving treatment in hospital, three of them are in severe condition, all in the city of Jilin Province, and 1,181 people in close contact with the locally transmitted COVID19 cases under medical observation, the NHC said.

Also 16 new asymptomatic COVID19 cases were reported on Tuesday, including 15 cases from Wuhan. NHC said 368 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation.

As of Tuesday, the overall confirmed COVID19 cases on the mainland had reached 82,965, includinf 87 COVID19 positive patients who were still being treated, NHC said.

Globally the COVID19 cases touched 4,897,492 with 323,285 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
