United States President Donald Trump has said he has been taking HCQ for a couple of weeks to help ward off COVID19 infection.
HCQ traditionally used in the treatment of malaria, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis has not been approved to be effective in prevention. HCQ can sometimes have severe side effects, which can be fatal.
You'd be surprised at how many people are taking it, especially the frontline workers - many, many are taking it. I happen to betaking it, Mr President said reporters during a meeting with restaurant executives on Monday.
"HCQ?" "When?" "Now?" journalists asked, to which Mr. President replied.
A couple of weeks ago, I started taking this. Because I think it's good, he said.
I've heard a lot of good stories. And if HCQ is not good, I will tell you right. I'm not going to hurt by it. It has been around for 40 years for lupus, for malaria for other things. I take it, he said.
Mr President also said he did not own a company that produced Hydroxychloroquine and wanted Americans to feel good and that the drug has an impact, especially early on.
Donald Trump also confirmed that he was also taking a zinc suplement and had taken a single dose initially of azithromycin, an antibiotic.
Mr President Donald Trump added, All Ican tell you is, so far I seem to be okay.
