Ireland's Prime Minister has re-registered himself as a medical professional due to Coronavirus outbreak and will work one shift in a week to help people out during this epidemic , Prime minister's office said on Sunday.

Mr Prime Minister used to work as a doctor for seven years before leaving the profession to join politics and was removed himself from the medical register in 2013.

A spokesperson from his office said , He rejoined medical profession in March and offered his service to Ireland's Health Service Executive for one session in a week on areas within his scope of practice .

The spokesperson also added, Many of his friends and family are working under Health Service Executive . He wanted to help them out in a small way.

Health Minister Simon Harris also launched a medical professional requirement drive for the country's struggling health services to fight against Coronavirus pandemic with a message, YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU.

The Health Service Executive said it had spoken to thousands of medical professional who may be eligible to return after it received more than 70,000 response for it's Be on call for Ireland initiative.

Mr Varadkar belongs to a medical family . He is the son of a Doctor and Nurse and his partner , two sisters and their husband all belong to healthcare.
