UAE Successfully launched the Arab world's first mission to Mars

Emiratis celebrated with pomp and pleasure as the United Arab Emirates made history on Monday by successfully launching its own spacecraft "Al Amal" also called as Hope Probe towards Mars from the Japanese launch centre, making the Arab world's first interplanetary mission, according to the media reports.

Al Amal or Hope Probe, weighing 1.3 tonnes was launched from the H-2A rocket from Japan's remote Tanegashima spacecraft at 1.58 am local time.

The USD 200 million project , which is the first interplanetary mission by any Arabian nation, took six years by a team of 135 Emirati researchers, scientists nd engineers.

Al Amal or Hope's arrival is set in February 2021 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the UAE'S formation.
