Yemen confirms first Corona positive case

Yemen confirmed it's first case of Coronavirus on 10th of April as aid groups try to prepare for an outbreak in a nation where war has spread hunger and disease and shattered the health system.

The supreme national emergency said the Coronavirus positive case was diagnosed in the southern oil producing region of Hadhramout .

The infected person is stable and receiving medical attention, it tweeted .

The Coronavirus infected person was found to be a Yemeni working in the small commercial port of Ash Shehr .

Yemen's UN humanitarian Lise grend told that the impact would be catastrophic if the Coronavirus spreads in Yemen , as the health status of Yemen is very degraded and the country doesn't have sufficient capabilities, supplies or facilities .

Authorities ordered the closure of Ash Shihr port for nearly a week to for deep cleaning and instructed workers there to isolate themselves for two weeks.

WHO said it was providing it's support to Yemen's ministry of public and health population.

Yemen's representative Atlaf Musani told they were following the case and it's contacts to assess the level of exposure .
